A month ago, we purchased tickets for Cirque du Soleil (but the show wasn't until March) and I was kind of under the impression that we would use that as a late date for Valentine's Day. Here we are heading out. The show was impressive (a bit confusing as far as story line) but very cool. I believe Byron summed it up well when he said "it's Dr. Seuss in French." Sadly, no photos were allowed - arggg!

Back, to my story - apparently I was wrong about that being our Valentine's Day stuff because the morning of the 14th Byron woke me up at 6am and told me to pack my bags. I was totally confused because he was supposed to going to work that weekend. He had been brewing up a plan to take me on a surprise trip for just the two of us. He even had Bethany in on it because I was supposedly watching her kids while her and Paul went out since i had nothing else to do that night. They both sure did get me! I was not expecting anything at all! We normally don't do much besides a date night for V-Day. But you know, being the good sport that I am I went ahead and got up at 6am on a Saturday and packed quite quickly - MAN I love surprises! We ended up going to Cincinnati and stayed at the Westin Downtown.

Talk about fancy - like valet parking fancy. This was our view from our room. Outside was kind of like a mini Rockefeller Center. Pretty cool, but we were surprised there wasn't more to do downtown. We ate a great restaurant across the street and went on a horse and carriage ride through town. The last horse and carriage ride we went on was the night we got engaged so it had been awhile. It was cold, but romantic all snuggled up. I of course left my camera in the room thinking we wouldn't be doing anything.. arggg again.

The V-day package that he bought included champagne and a chocolate treat (not that I handle the taste of champagne, but we all know I can handle chocolate). It included free (fancy hotel room service) breakfast. This was not the continental breakfast at Motel 6, mind you! As well as 4pm checkout (wohoo no getting up early).

He also had a massage therapist come to the room and give me an HOUR massage! Talk about heaven - that's all I ever want and then to be able to just go take a nap afterwards - perfect. We totally just relaxed and did a little shopping too. GREAT weekend from a GREAT husband!
